I don't know if its me or the whole weekend that had to be festive is so lazy. It is a long weekend and a time to catch up with some news.
Since I do not have the lazy idiot box, I ventured out to get a daily, the options were Hindu and the TOI. When in college I would have vouched for a long reading session to keep me occupied from the time we had the lovely mess dosas and before the sleep inducing lunch with ice-cream. Those were the times I would get the Hindu. But now the laziness has had its effect on the choice of the daily too. Just like TOI I have become less interested in the current news (may be just like my friend PJ, but he has an idiot box now to tune in, I need to ask him about his current stats) and look for just colorful pics, so I bought the later.
Just to show how focused the team at TOI is - just yesterday in the main TOI there was a 3-4 line article squeezed above a complete page of ad, just to remind people they are still a newspaper and not an Admagish weekly!! If just the TOI was not enough, the devil comes with a sibling - B Mirror. The mirror is in fact a mirror copy of the BT supplement of the TOI. Whatever passes as news in these pages was very less indeed and since its a Diwali weekend the paper was filled with ads from all the guys who want to sell almost all their products at some discounted price. It is as if whole of the city is making people buy stuff in a hurry, this does remind me of an old mistake which I made years earlier. In one of these sales I had bough my digicam. After the purchase I got to know that I have almost obsolete piece of tech at my disposal !
But I am at it again but this time around I have done few weeks of research and discussions to buy a good DSLR. The choice had boiled down to model from Canon and one in Nikon. But the ads in the supposed to be express dailies have thrown in another option - a Handycam! This opened another box which I had rather ignored successfully till now. By the thoughts of it I am not going to buy anything!
Whatever was the news in the papers during the weekend I am happy that I have enough paper for a month :)
